Visions
Visions is my comment on 'seeing'. My own photographic imagery is chosen with the intent of using them in paintings. Colour, shape, beauty and contrast of the subject dictate the direction of each painting and are viewed with an eye to how it will be placed on the canvas. Rather than being a photographer who paints, however, photography is a tool upon which I build my paintings. Photography is as integral to the work as gesso or pigment or brushwork and ultimately, the final work is all about paint. The paint allows me to make seamless transitions between images, constructing to deconstructing the sense of reality with paint.
